Continuations monitoring of drivers hours’ will be done using telematics from the vehicles along with historic downloads of driver and vehicle tachograph data, analysed and reviewed with the drivers and where required additional training or schedule changes made. If infringements continue then disciplinary action may take place
We recognise that HTF Transport have a responsibility to monitor the environmental impact its operations have. This includes monitoring the fuel used through idling, HTF transport have a fuel and emissions champion, Jemma Clegg that monitors fuel consumption and idling and communicates this to drivers periodically.
We recognise that driver health and fitness is key to ensuring the drivers maintain a high level of concentration and ability to carry out their roles to the best of their ability. Above and beyond the health screening set out by the DVLA we are committed to ensuring our drivers are checked periodically, in line with the FOR’s requirement on eye sight checks and whether or not action needs to be taken.
We recognise that HTF Transport have a responsibility to ensure that all loads carried on company vehicles are loaded onto the correct type of vehicle and the vehicle is equipped with suitable restraints to prevent loads becoming unsecure.
We recognise that we are obliged to maintain any vehicle operating on public roads in a safe and roadworthy condition. We have a firm management commitment to ensuring all vehicles driven for business use are legal, safe and roadworthy at all times. This can only be achieved by having a regular servicing, inspection and maintenance system. All vehicles are to be serviced and inspected in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. We also have a robust system for drivers to report any vehicle defects. It is an offence to use an unsafe vehicle on public roads, and drivers have a responsibility to ensure the vehicle is legal and fit for purpose when the vehicle is in their control. All staff must be aware that an unsafe vehicle being in operation identifies a failure in our HGV safety system, and that both company and driver may be prosecuted for using, causing or permitting the use of a defective vehicle.
