HIAB Hire Derby

Derby is one of Britain’s great engineering cities: Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace builds aero engines at Sinfin, Toyota Manufacturing UK builds cars at Burnaston, and Alstom (formerly Bombardier) builds trains at Litchurch Lane, the UK’s largest train manufacturing site. HTF Transport provides professional HIAB hire across Derby and the wider DE postcode area as part of our dedicated UK-wide service, with a fleet suited to the plant installation, machinery delivery, and oversized component logistics this manufacturing base generates.

We cover Derby city centre, Pride Park, Sinfin, Spondon, Allestree, Mickleover, Littleover, Chaddesden, Alvaston, and Oakwood across the DE1 to DE24 city postcodes, plus the wider area out to Chellaston (DE73), Burnaston, Stenson Fields, and Borrowash. Beyond HIAB crane hire, HTF Transport provides a full range of transport and logistics services across Derby. The same fleet that handles a one-off machinery delivery can support a manufacturing site through a multi-week installation programme.

Who Are HTF Transport?

HTF Transport is a family run haulage and lifting company working from a depot in Audenshaw, east Manchester. We have been moving and lifting loads for customers since 1989, and today run a modern fleet of HIAB crane lorries, tractor units, ramp equipped vehicles and 4×4 LCVs.

Every lift is carried out by our own trained operators rather than subcontracted out, so the person on the crane is the person we are accountable for. The fleet holds FORS Silver accreditation, all vehicles are ADR compliant for hazardous loads, and every unit is TomTom tracked so we can give you accurate progress on your delivery. We work around the clock, including nights and weekends, for jobs that need road closures or out of hours access.

Services We Offer in Derby

Recent Jobs

A memorial garden for the 1985 Manchester Airport disaster

Working alongside 3MMM Construction on one of the more challenging jobs we have taken on. Full risk assessments and method statements were produced and a site visit completed before the lift to identify hazards.

Conveyor boom installation for a parcel hub

One of many boom installations carried out by our HIAB operators. The booms were transported on the bed of the trailer and placed with the crane working just inches from the dock door.

Site cabin delivery in poor weather

Delivery and set up of cabins for regular customer Bunkabin. The right crew and the right equipment meant the job went ahead despite the conditions.

Paint pallets lifted onto a superstore roof

A new customer needed pallets of roofing material placed on a superstore roof as part of a restoration. A perfect job for the crane fork attachment and one of our artic HIABs.

A Euro 6 vehicle brought in for generator work

A new Euro 6 unit added to the fleet for generator transport, keeping us compliant for clean air zones and reducing emissions in areas of poor air quality.

All About HIAB Hire in Derby

Take a look below at some FAQs regarding HIAB Hire, any questions not answered here feel free to get in touch.

  • Which areas of Derby do you cover for HIAB hire?

We cover the whole of Derby and the surrounding Derbyshire area for HIAB hire, including Pride Park, Sinfin, Spondon, Allestree, Mickleover, Littleover, Chaddesden, Alvaston, and Oakwood, plus the wider commuter belt out to Chellaston (DE73), Burnaston, Stenson Fields, and Borrowash. We serve the Derby city postcodes from DE1 through to DE24 and the surrounding DE districts.

  • How much does HIAB hire cost in Derby?

Three factors set the price: crane capacity, job duration, and access at your site. Derby sits on our planned East Midlands routes via the A50 and M1, so scheduled work is priced as such rather than at emergency rates. For multi-day or contract work, common in advanced manufacturing, we offer day-rate and project pricing, and you always receive a transparent quote before any work begins. Call us on 0161 785 9691 for a free, no-obligation quote.

  • How quickly can you get a HIAB to Derby?

Derby is within our planned East Midlands coverage, reached via the A50 and M1. Same-day availability is possible for urgent jobs subject to fleet availability, while booking ahead secures the right vehicle for planned work. For 24-hour emergency requirements we can mobilise from our Audenshaw depot.

  • Can you handle HIAB work at major manufacturing sites like Rolls-Royce Sinfin and Toyota Burnaston?

Our fleet is built for exactly that standard of work. Derby is home to Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace at Sinfin, one of the UK’s largest engineering employers, producing the Trent family of aero engines, and Toyota Manufacturing UK at Burnaston, the UK’s only Toyota vehicle plant. Both operate just-in-time supply chains demanding precision logistics, and our HIAB-equipped vehicles are suited to oversized component deliveries, machinery installations, and inter-depot moves at sites with these requirements. Our CPCS and CSCS qualified operators meet the safety standards that automotive and aerospace facilities demand.

  • Can you deliver to rail manufacturing sites like Alstom (formerly Bombardier) at Litchurch Lane?

We are well placed to support work of this kind. Alstom’s Litchurch Lane site is the UK’s largest train manufacturing facility, producing rolling stock for projects including HS2, the Elizabeth Line, and the Aventra fleet. Our HIAB fleet is suited to the loads rail manufacturing generates, from bogies and traction equipment to modular components and supporting infrastructure, and the site’s central Derby location sits within our planned A38 and M1 routes.

  • Do you provide grab hire in Derby?

Yes. While our core business is HIAB-equipped crane lorry hire, our fleet also supports grab lorry hire for muck-away, aggregate movement, and construction waste removal. Derby’s residential and commercial development pipeline, particularly around Castleward, Becketwell, and the Pride Park expansion, generates regular grab hire demand. Call us to discuss your specific job requirements.

  • Can you support the Infinity Park / Pride Park business district expansion?

Yes. Pride Park is an established business park of around 180 acres with continued mixed-use development, and Infinity Park is Derby’s Enterprise Zone, the dedicated advanced manufacturing campus supporting the city’s engineering cluster. We provide HIAB crane services for delivering steel frames, modular building elements, plant equipment, and large-format glazing to active sites across both parks.

  • Do you serve the Peak District fringe areas west of Derby?

Yes. Derbyshire’s geography extends west into the Peak District National Park, with rural construction and infrastructure sites at Ashbourne, Matlock, and through the Derbyshire Dales. Road access can be more challenging here, with narrow lanes, steeper gradients, and weight restrictions on rural bridges. We select appropriate vehicle sizes from our fleet, and for restricted sites we also operate 4×4 pickup vehicles for tooling and equipment delivery.
