HIAB Hire Halifax

HTF Transport provides professional HIAB hire across Halifax and the wider Calderdale area. Our Audenshaw depot is approximately 27 miles from Halifax town centre, typically 45 to 60 minutes via the M62 eastbound, exiting at Junction 24 at Ainley Top. Halifax sits in the deep Calder and Hebble valleys with a strong engineering, manufacturing, and textile heritage that keeps demand for crane lorry hire constant.

We cover Halifax town centre, Sowerby Bridge, Elland, Hebden Bridge, Ovenden, Illingworth, Northowram, and Shelf, serving every HX postcode from HX1 through to HX7, together with Brighouse (HD6) and Todmorden (OL14) across the rest of Calderdale. Beyond HIAB crane hire, HTF Transport provides a full range of transport and logistics services across Halifax and Calderdale. That ranges from single lifts to multi-week site support, with vehicles suited to Calderdale’s steep and narrow terrain.

Who Are HTF Transport?

HTF Transport is a family run haulage and lifting company working from a depot in Audenshaw, east Manchester. We have been moving and lifting loads for customers since 1989, and today run a modern fleet of HIAB crane lorries, tractor units, ramp equipped vehicles and 4×4 LCVs.

Every lift is carried out by our own trained operators rather than subcontracted out, so the person on the crane is the person we are accountable for. The fleet holds FORS Silver accreditation, all vehicles are ADR compliant for hazardous loads, and every unit is TomTom tracked so we can give you accurate progress on your delivery. We work around the clock, including nights and weekends, for jobs that need road closures or out of hours access.

Working alongside 3MMM Construction on one of the more challenging jobs we have taken on. Full risk assessments and method statements were produced and a site visit completed before the lift to identify hazards.

One of many boom installations carried out by our HIAB operators. The booms were transported on the bed of the trailer and placed with the crane working just inches from the dock door.

Site cabin delivery in poor weather

Delivery and set up of cabins for regular customer Bunkabin. The right crew and the right equipment meant the job went ahead despite the conditions.

Paint pallets lifted onto a superstore roof

A new customer needed pallets of roofing material placed on a superstore roof as part of a restoration. A perfect job for the crane fork attachment and one of our artic HIABs.

A Euro 6 vehicle brought in for generator work

A new Euro 6 unit added to the fleet for generator transport, keeping us compliant for clean air zones and reducing emissions in areas of poor air quality.

All About HIAB Hire in Halifax

Take a look below at some FAQs regarding HIAB Hire, any questions not answered here feel free to get in touch.

  • Which areas of Halifax do you cover for HIAB hire?

We cover all of Halifax and the wider Calderdale area for HIAB hire, including Sowerby Bridge, Elland, Brighouse, Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Ovenden, Illingworth, Northowram, and Shelf. We serve all HX postcodes from HX1 through to HX7, plus Brighouse (HD6) and Todmorden (OL14) elsewhere in Calderdale. Our Audenshaw depot is approximately 27 miles from Halifax town centre, with direct M62 access keeping response times reliable.

  • How much does HIAB hire cost in Halifax?

Pricing for HIAB hire in Halifax reflects the crane specification you need, the hire duration, and how demanding the access is. The Calder Valley terrain can affect pricing for sites with restricted access or steep approaches. We provide transparent, all-inclusive quotes covering operator, vehicle, fuel, and insurance. Call 0161 785 9691 for a free quote tailored to your Halifax job.

  • How quickly can you get a HIAB to Halifax?

We can typically reach Halifax within 45 to 60 minutes of a vehicle leaving our Audenshaw depot via the M62. For pre-booked work, we offer same-day and next-day availability across Calderdale, including Sowerby Bridge, Brighouse, and the upper Calder Valley.

  • Can HIAB vehicles navigate Halifax's steep gradients and narrow streets?

Yes, with careful planning. Halifax sits in a deep valley and roads climb steeply in all directions, some with gradients of 1-in-6 or steeper at Salterhebble Hill, Lee Bank, and Shibden. Calderdale Council has also imposed 3.5-tonne weight restrictions on several routes where HGVs were using them as shortcuts. Our operators know the approved HGV routes and assess access before every job. We select the right vehicle size for your location, whether that’s a full artic HIAB for Elland’s business parks or a compact rigid for a hillside site in Ovenden.

  • Do you provide HIAB hire for heritage building work at the Piece Hall and Dean Clough?

Yes. Halifax’s building stock is dense with listed structures, from the Grade I Piece Hall to Dean Clough Mills (1.25 million sq ft, Grade II listed). Heritage restoration and conversion work means handling stone flags, timber, and steelwork carefully, often where narrow streets rule out conventional crane access. Our HIAB crane reach allows us to place materials precisely within tight heritage site constraints, and our operators are experienced with the care needed around listed structures.

  • Can you deliver to the industrial estates and business parks near Elland and the M62?

Absolutely. Lowfields Business Park at Elland has around 50 units sited less than a mile from M62 Junction 24. We also serve the Ainley Top commercial area and logistics units along the M62 corridor. These sites have direct motorway access making them quick to reach from our Audenshaw depot. We provide HIAB services for machinery delivery, container placement, and warehouse fit-out work across the Elland and Brighouse industrial areas.

  • Do you serve Hebden Bridge and the upper Calder Valley for HIAB hire?

Yes, though these areas require specific planning. The A646 through Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge, and on to Todmorden follows the narrow Calder Valley floor, with tight turns that demand careful routing. Hebden Bridge has many “double-decker” houses built into the hillside with very limited vehicle access. We use our smaller rigid HIAB units for these locations and assess routes beforehand. The upper valley flooded severely when Storm Ciara hit in February 2020, and flood repair and resilience work has generated steady demand for crane lorry services in these communities since.
