HIAB Hire York

Few cities in England ask more of a crane lorry operator than York, where the medieval street network and the River Ouse shape every delivery route. HTF Transport provides professional HIAB hire across York and the surrounding North Yorkshire area as part of our dedicated UK-wide service, working in a city that balances tight heritage protection with substantial, active redevelopment.

We cover York city centre, Clifton, Heslington, Acomb, Holgate, Fulford, Huntington, Haxby, Wigginton, and Strensall across the YO1 to YO32 city postcodes, plus the wider region out to Selby (YO8), Tadcaster, Easingwold (YO61), and Pocklington (YO42). Beyond HIAB crane hire, HTF Transport provides a full range of transport and logistics services across York. From a one-off delivery through the city walls to phased support for a long-running regeneration scheme, our fleet and operators can handle it.

Who Are HTF Transport?

HTF Transport is a family run haulage and lifting company working from a depot in Audenshaw, east Manchester. We have been moving and lifting loads for customers since 1989, and today run a modern fleet of HIAB crane lorries, tractor units, ramp equipped vehicles and 4×4 LCVs.

Every lift is carried out by our own trained operators rather than subcontracted out, so the person on the crane is the person we are accountable for. The fleet holds FORS Silver accreditation, all vehicles are ADR compliant for hazardous loads, and every unit is TomTom tracked so we can give you accurate progress on your delivery. We work around the clock, including nights and weekends, for jobs that need road closures or out of hours access.

One of many boom installations carried out by our HIAB operators. The booms were transported on the bed of the trailer and placed with the crane working just inches from the dock door.

A Euro 6 vehicle brought in for generator work

A new Euro 6 unit added to the fleet for generator transport, keeping us compliant for clean air zones and reducing emissions in areas of poor air quality.

All About HIAB Hire in York

Take a look below at some FAQs regarding HIAB Hire, any questions not answered here feel free to get in touch.

  • Which areas of York do you cover for HIAB hire?

We cover the whole of York and the surrounding North Yorkshire area for HIAB hire, including the city centre, Clifton, Heslington, Acomb, Holgate, Fulford, Huntington, Haxby, Wigginton, and Strensall, plus the wider region out to Selby, Tadcaster, Easingwold, and Pocklington. We serve the York city postcodes from YO1 through to YO32, plus the wider districts around Selby (YO8), Easingwold (YO61), and Pocklington (YO42).

  • How much does HIAB hire cost in York?

The price of HIAB hire in York depends on three things: the crane capacity required, how long the job runs, and the access conditions at your site. Heritage city-centre work may need a smaller, more agile vehicle, and we factor that into the quote. Pricing is transparent and confirmed before any work begins. Call us on 0161 785 9691 for a free, no-obligation quote.

  • How quickly can you get a HIAB to York?

Our fleet reaches York via the M62 and A1(M). Same-day availability is possible for urgent jobs, subject to fleet commitments, and planned projects can be scheduled in advance. We operate 24 hours a day and can mobilise from our Audenshaw depot at any hour.

  • Can HIAB lorries access York's medieval city centre given the Bar Walls and footstreets?

Yes, with careful planning. York’s city centre operates extensive pedestrianised footstreets (Stonegate, Coney Street, Parliament Street, and others) with restricted vehicle access during the day, and the medieval Bar Walls and narrow streets like Goodramgate require precise vehicle selection. We deploy smaller-format HIABs for restricted-access work and plan deliveries outside footstreet hours where required. Our operators are experienced with heritage city access protocols and coordinate with City of York Council and site contractors as needed.

  • Do you provide HIAB hire for York Central regeneration?

Yes. York Central is one of the largest city-centre brownfield regeneration sites in England: a 45-hectare scheme adjacent to York Railway Station targeting 2,500 new homes, 6,500 new jobs, a new National Railway Museum extension, and major commercial and public realm investment. We provide HIAB crane hire for delivering steel frames, precast concrete, cladding, and modular elements to active development sites across the programme.

  • Can you support Clifton Moor and Monks Cross commercial development?

Yes. Clifton Moor and Monks Cross form York’s primary commercial and retail employment zones north of the city ring road, with continued investment in office, industrial, and retail floorspace. We provide HIAB hire for warehouse fit-outs, racking installations, plant equipment delivery, and modular building lifts. Both parks sit just off the A1237 outer ring road, so access for larger vehicles is rarely a problem.

  • Do you serve the rural North Yorkshire areas around York?

Yes. North Yorkshire is one of England’s largest counties by area, with significant agricultural, food production, and rural construction activity across the Howardian Hills, the Yorkshire Wolds, and into the North York Moors. We provide HIAB hire across this rural fringe with vehicle types suited to country lane access and farm-site lifts. For particularly restricted rural sites we also operate 4×4 pickup vehicles for tooling and equipment delivery.

  • Do you serve Selby and the surrounding A19 / A1 corridor?

Yes. Selby sits 14 miles south of York on the A19 / A63 corridor and is a significant logistics and food-processing town. We provide HIAB hire across Selby and the wider Selby District, supporting warehouse logistics, food sector plant installations, and construction across the YO8 postcode area.
